Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of buying insurance from Richardson Insurance, an independent agency?
A: Many people may think it doesn’t matter where they buy their insurance policies. However, this decision may be costing you money, the protection you need, and the personal service you deserve. Unlike direct writing insurance companies, D.B. Richardson Insurance Agency can access insurance coverage from more than one company. We will shop around for you to make sure you are getting the best coverage at the best price. Most importantly, as a several-generation contributor to the local community, we have a stake in ensuring that each local family or business obtains the utmost in personal attention.
What can I do to lower my auto insurance rates?
A: There are a number of ways that you can lower your insurance rates. Here at Richardson Insurance we will work to get you every discount available. Some of the discounts you may be eligible for include a multiple car discount, a combine credit for having your homeowners and auto insurance with the same company, a good driver or good student discount, or as a member of a qualifying group such as AAA.
Changing your deductible is another way that you can save money on your auto insurance. You may be able to cut your insurance costs by nearly 10% by raising your deductible. It is important to note however, that if something were to happen, you would need to be able to pay that deductible.
What are collision and comprehensive coverages?
A: Collision coverage, although optional, is highly recommended for automobiles less than 10 years old. Collision is one part of the Physical Damage part of your auto policy. This coverage will cover damage to your own vehicle, after paying the deductible, if it is involved in an accident. This applies regardless of who is at fault.
Comprehensive coverage, sometimes called “other than collision” coverage, is the second part of the Physical Damage section of your auto policy. This will protect you against things that can damage your car that are not accident related. Examples of this include storms and natural disasters, vandalism and theft, broken windows and windshield, and damage caused by animals. |
